About the Role
We are seeking a Senior AWS Cloud Engineer to join our Global Payment Services team in Pune. You will lead cloud architecture efforts, drive infrastructure automation, and partner with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable digital solutions. This is a permanent role with Barclays.
Key Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain cloud-native solutions on AWS

Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (CloudFormation, Service Catalog, etc.) for deployment and infrastructure management

Work across core AWS services: IAM, S3, EC2, auto-scaling, VPC, load balancers, containers, Secrets Manager, networking
-
Architect resilient, highly available, and secure AWS environments

Lead design and implementation of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab, etc.) and automation
-
Mentor, guide, and support engineering teams in best practices, architecture reviews, code reviews
-
Collaborate with stakeholders (product, business, operations) to translate business needs into technical solutions

Enforce quality, security, and governance standards in cloud deliverables
-
Manage timelines, risks, resource allocation, and project priorities

Oversee release management and change control in alignment with SDLC / ITIL frameworks
Required Skills & Experience
-
Extensive hands-on experience in AWS cloud engineering and architecture
-
Deep experience with IaC (CloudFormation, AWS Service Catalog, or equivalent)

Strong knowledge of AWS core services (IAM, EC2, S3, containers, networking, load balancing, etc.)

Experience building & managing CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins, GitLab)

Strong understanding of resilience, security, disaster recovery in cloud systems
-
Experience in release management, change management, SDLC, and ITIL
-
Leadership experience — ability to lead teams, mentor engineers, make architectural decisions

Excellent communication (verbal and written), stakeholder management skills

Ability to analyse complex requirements and propose optimal technical solutions
-
Strong organisation, multitasking, and prioritisation capabilities

Security mindset, risk awareness, and knowledge of governance / control practices
Preferred / Plus Skills

Experience in financial services / payments domain

Prior exposure to AWS governance (budgets, cost optimisation, compliance)

Experience with containers, Kubernetes / ECS / EKS

Familiarity with scripting / automation (Python, Bash, etc.)

Salary Range (Pune, India)
Based on comparable roles in Pune and India for senior AWS / cloud engineering roles:

Estimated base + fixed compensation: ₹30,00,000 to ₹45,00,000 per annum

With bonuses, stock or benefits, total compensation could go higher in strong cases
This range is aligned with market insights for senior cloud engineers in India.
