About the Role

We are hiring a Purchase / Procurement Officer specialized in scrap metals (ferrous & non-ferrous) to join our procurement team. You will be responsible for sourcing, inspecting, negotiating, purchasing, and coordinating logistics of metal scrap across Hyderabad and Telangana. You will report to the Purchase Manager or Head of Procurement.

Key Responsibilities

Sourcing & Supplier Development

• Identify, evaluate, and onboard scrap-metal suppliers — recyclers, dismantlers, demolition yards, industrial units.

• Build, manage, and expand a vendor network based on quality, reliability, and competitive pricing.

Inspection, Sorting & Grading

• Visit supplier yards or sites to inspect, sort, and grade scrap (ferrous vs non-ferrous, alloys, contamination levels).

• Ensure correct categorization for downstream processing and pricing.

Negotiation & Purchasing

• Negotiate prices, terms, payment schedules, and delivery conditions.

• Issue purchase orders, maintain contracts/agreements, and ensure compliance with statutory norms (GST, environmental rules).

Logistics & Inventory Coordination

• Collaborate with logistics/transport teams to ensure timely pickup, safe transit, and delivery.

• Monitor inventory levels to support production needs and avoid stockouts or excess.

Quality & Compliance Assurance

• Ensure procured scrap meets quality and environmental compliance (contaminants, hazardous materials).

• Maintain audit-ready records, supplier certifications, and internal controls.

Market Intelligence & Reporting

• Track domestic and global metal rates (LME, local benchmarks), and monitor macro factors affecting prices.

• Prepare procurement data, cost analysis, supplier performance, and savings reports.

Risk Management & Cost Optimization

• Structure procurement strategies — spot vs contract, hedging, volume deals — aligned with market conditions.

• Identify improvement areas to reduce costs, lead times, and risk exposure.

Requirements & Skills

Educational & Professional Background

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business, Engineering or related field.

• MBA in Supply Chain / Operations / Procurement is a plus.

Experience

• 3 – 6 years of procurement experience in scrap metals, recycling, foundry, heavy industry.

• Experience with both ferrous (steel, iron) and non-ferrous (aluminum, copper, alloys) scrap is preferred.

Technical & Domain Skills

• Ability to grade scrap, recognize alloys, use measuring tools (calipers, spectrometers).

• Good grasp of GST norms, weight & quality certification, environmental laws.

• Proficient in MS Excel; experience with ERP or sourcing software is a plus.
